Program on Liberation Technology spring update
The Program on Liberation Technology (PLT) at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law now has all of the videos and summaries from our winter seminar series online for your viewing pleasure. The PLT completed a highly successful seminar series bringing academics, experts, and practitioners working in this emerging field to Stanford each week of the academic quarter to discuss both theoretical and practical applications of new technologies. Lectures focused on the use of technology to influence politics, improve government accountability in India, reform dictatorships, and bring cleaner water to slums in Kibera, among others. Abstracts of the event and presentations accompany the videos to provide a comprehensive account of each lecture and a fuller experience to students and liberation technologists alike.
During the spring quarter we have seminars scheduled with Manish Gupta of IBM on March 31, Nathan Wyeth from Frontline: SMS Credit on April 14 at 4:30 pm and Leila Janah, founder of Samasource on April 14 at 12:00 pm. A partnership with Google has provided the opportunity for the PLT to bring students to Google for a special seminar at some point during the quarter, details and speaker information is forthcoming. Please frequent our site for more information on upcoming liberation technology events and updates.
