Michael McFaul nudges Russia on democracy, competition
CDDRL, FSI Stanford in the news: The Moscow Times on September 10, 2010Russia should uphold democratic rights and increase political competition if the government's plans to modernize the economy are to become reality, President Obama's key advisor on Russia Michael McFaul told a conference on modernization in Yaroslavl. McFaul, the former director of FSI's Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law, has written about the myth of the authoritarian model with Kathryn Stoner-Weiss, CDDRL's deputy director.
