Human Trafficking Vulnerability Survey

Our project on Human Trafficking Vulnerability in Nepal is seeking to hire an undergraduate student to join their team that currently spans across the U.S. and Nepal.  This is a policy evaluation project, which examines the impact of different forms of anti-trafficking narratives (for example, graphic novels and radio dramatization), as well as different types of messages, on attitudes and behaviors pertaining to human trafficking. The RA must be willing to begin ASAP, and to work at least through the Spring and Summer (~10 hrs/wk).

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting in carrying out literature reviews on previous work in entertainment education and persuasive messaging.

  • Assisting in content analysis of graphic novels prior to survey launch, in order to ensure uniformity across stories on dimensions such as length, color, number of characters, etc.

  • Conducting research on labor and human trafficking regulations in Nepal.

  • Assisting in drafting the policy reports we hope to write based on our data, which we will share with our partner NGOs in Nepal and other NGOs interested in using our findings to shape their future human trafficking education outreach.

  • Refining the survey instrument.

  • Assisting in data analysis

Qualifications:

  • someone interested in starting to work asap

  • someone interested in continuing to work throughout the summer/next year (so not a senior)

  • a weekly commitment of about 10 hours

  • a solid background in excel, Stata, statistics

  • excellent English written language skills

  • extreme detail orientedness

  • interest in human trafficking/Nepal
